It had been threatening to rain for much of the day, but the weather held out for Liz and Tyler…. They even got a beautiful sunset during their reception at Jack Baker’s Lobster Shanty, located on the scenic bay at Point Pleasant.

After arriving from their ceremony, Tyler and Liz and their guests enjoyed cocktail hour hors d’oeuvres and music from our keyboardist and trumpet player.  After bringing the guests into reception with an uptempo version of the New Orleans favorite “Little Liza Jane”, the parents and bridal party were announced and then we brought the happy couple in to the room.  For their first dance, Liz & Tyler did a snappy routine to the Van Morrison classic, “Have I Told You Lately”, as performed by the band.

We then did Tim McGraw’s “My Little Girl” for Liz and her father to dance to.  After that, Tyler danced with his mom to our version of Fleetwood Mac’s “Landslide”.

The guests were a good mix and they enjoyed music from all eras from Swing to Current Club/dance music.  Early on, the dancers got into a real disco groove.  Things really got hopping later with a medley including “I Gotta Feeling”, “Poker Face”, “Love Train” and “What I Like About You”.  We enjoyed working with photographer John O’Boyle for the first time and Sean from Jack Baker’s ran an excellent party.  We ended the party with Bruce Springsteen’s “Jersey Girl”, dedicated to Liz.

At the time this entry is being typed, Liz and Tyler should be on their way to a honeymoon in Alaska.  The Smokin’ Section wishes them a fantastic honeymoon, and an even better life together!
