Matt and Adrienne did most of their planning long distance for their big day and had originally found the Smokin’ Section on the strength of our great NJ wedding band reviews.
The couple had a rainy day for their wedding, but things were hopping inside the Park Savoy. Trumpet and piano provided the backdrop for their ceremony in the main room. When the couple marched back down the aisle after they were “official”, things adjourned to the bar area for cocktail hour, where the people enjoyed a trio of trumpet, piano and acoustic bass.
For the introductions, Adrienne and Matt were introduced to “Gonna Fly Now”, otherwise known as the theme from the movie “Rocky”. Their first dance was the Smokin’ Section version of Norah Jones’ “Come Away With Me”. Adrienne then danced with her father to “Teach Your Children” (the Crosby Stills Nash & Young classic as done by us) and then Matt had his turn to the Carpenters’ “Close To You”.
Adrienne’s father Hank did a heartfelt welcome speech, and her sister Amanda got a chance to say a few words after that, followed by the best man’s toast.
The couple had a great bunch of guests, who liked and danced to a wide range of music. They enjoyed Classic Soul like Sam & Dave’s “Hold On I’m Coming”, newer material like Rihanna’s “Only Girl In The World” and older classics like Sinatra’s “The Summer Wind” as well.
A hora got everyone up and moving and then Adrienne’s side of the family got a chance to dance to a Lebanese dubke.
It was a blast working with Bill of the Park Savoy again. Adrienne & Matt live up in the Boston, Mass area and we had worked on all their preps long distance up until this point. It was great to finally meet them in person, and we wish all the best to this fantastic couple.
