The Smokin’ Section NJ party band had our first visit to the Imperia in Somerset on a slightly muggy late September day/eve.  Caitlin and Matt had first seen us at their friend’s Trish and Gordon’s wedding almost 5 years back at the HollyHedge Estate in New Hope, Pa and knew right then they wanted the Smokin’ Section at their wedding.

The weather held out for their reception in the garden behind the Imperia, and our keyboardist and trumpet player supplied the music for it.  After that, Matt and Caitlin’s guests repaired to the inside to enjoy the Imperia’s fine cocktail hour cuisine, with our piano player supplying the mood for it.

The festivities started in earnest when we brought the happy couple into the room to “I Gotta Feeling”.  Caitlin and Matt then danced their first dance to Fleetwood Mac’s “Songbird”, a special request which we learned for their party.  Caitlin then danced with her father to the Beatles’ classic “In My Life”.  Matt had his chance to dance with his mom to our version of Lady Antebellum’s “Never Alone” (another special request).  After that it was Hora time and the crowd ate it up!

It was great catching up on things with Gordon and Trish.

The guests enjoyed a wide range of music from “Can’t Take My Eyes Off of You” and “The Way You Look Tonight” to “Pumped Up Kicks” and “Call Me Maybe”.

The groom is a major Springsteen fan and we did a generous helping of the Boss (both fast and slow tunes) throughout the evening including his anthem “Rosalita”.

Photographer Brandi Grooms was there to document things…. we hadn’t seen her for a few years and enjoyed working with her.  Also on hand was Eric Pomerantz from Creative Unlimited and we had fun seeing and working with him.

The party climaxed with “Don’t Stop Believing” and “Living On A Prayer”.
